Pat Hennessy was born in the seaside town of Dingle, on the South West coast of Ireland. He qualified as a teacher in 1962 and his work took him to Limerick where he had the opportunity to study at The Limerick School of Art and The Irish Landscape School between 1970 and 1976.
During the 70’s he established himself as an artist, exhibiting widely. Two solo shows in Dingle, Co. Kerry (1976 and 1978), and contributions to many other exhibitions including The Annual Dunquin Exhibition, Dunquin, Co. Kerry, Irish House, and Devon Inn, Limerick.
Continuing to paint and exhibit (Solo exhibition at Irish House, Tipperary, 1980) Hennessy tutored painting classes at Daon Scoil an Daingean from 1980 to 1993.
Exhibiting in Dingle since 1976, Pat has drawn an untold depth of inspiration from the majestic landscape around the Dingle Peninsula where he worked from his studio in Knocknahow, Dingle. Using a variety of mediums including oils, acrylics and watercolours, he prolifically created vibrant landscapes and vigorous still lifes.
